| Beschreibung: |
Are you afraid of speaking in public or giving (academic) presentations? Do your legs already shake before you have to get up to speak in front of a group? This course will help you to reduce this fear to manageable levels.
We will cover various issues such as body language, personal and technical aspects of addressing an audience (e.g. such as nervousness or making and using visual aids) and we will practice effective public speaking in different settings.
At the end of the course, students should be able to:
- plan a well-structured presentation suitable for an academic context,
- deliver presentations confidently and effectively,
- handle questions efficiently,
- assess their own presentation skills and give constructive feedback to others,
- set aims for their further development,
- use appropriate presentation language and style |

| Die Teilnahme an den Fachsprachkursen setzt einen bestandenen Eingangstest / einen Leistungsnachweis eines Vertiefungskurses II (B2.2) der Universität Osnabrück oder einen entsprechenden Nachweis eines anderen universitären Sprachenzentrums voraus. Studierende, die bereits das Sprachniveau C1 oder C2 haben sind ebenso willkommen. |

| Students will be formally assessed on:
- a 30 minute presentation (including question and answer session) (70%).
- a learning log, which needs to include an initial report on the major difficulties of giving (academic) presentations in English and a final report on how the course helped to improve the student’s presentation skills (30%) |
