Leisure activities
The university offers each semester a comprehensive range of exhibitions, concerts, film screenings, podium discussions and presentations. The university’s program calendar provides a good overview of the current program. If you want to be active yourself you can make use of the university’s wide range of offers and initiatives.

Culture and leisure program JOIN-OS
During the teaching period the university’s International Office publishes each month the international culture programme. This offers excursions, museum and theatre visits and much more. More about JOIN-OS >>

University sport programme
The university’s sport centre (Zentrum für Hochschulsport) offers each semester a comprehensive sports programme.

Calendar of events
The public events taking place at the University (e.g. symposia, guest speeches, seminars, readings, concerts, excursions etc) are made public in the University of Osnabrück’s calendar of events. You can obtain it from the University’s press office, download it from the internet or browse it online (in German).

University choir, chamber choir, music groups (collegium musicum), big band
Do you either play a musical instrument or sing? Would you like to participate in the university choir, the chamber choir, a collegium musicum or in a big band? You can obtain more information from the office of the music department or from the internet (in German). 

German-international conversation groups
JOIN-OS organises a variety of international conversation groups. German and international students are invited to meet each other in a cordial and relaxed environment in order to get to know both each other and the respective culture of the other country. The conversation groups meet on a regular basis during the semester and are supported from the international offices of both universities. If you would like to organize a new German-international conversation group, please get in touch with the International Office (Akademisches Auslandsamt).

 The following conversation groups are currently offered:

• German-Chinese conversation group
• German-East European conversation group
• German-Turkish-Arabic conversation group
• German-Italian conversation group
• German-Spanish conversation group

Tandem Language Learning
Learning languages “in tandem” is when two native speakers of different languages teach each other their mother tongue. In this way the mother language of one of the participants is a foreign language for the other participant. For more information please contact the Language Center (Sprachenzentrum).
