| Beschreibung: | The plant circadian clock participates in virtually all developmental, metabolic, and physiological processes. In this talk I will discuss the genetic isolation and logic-based placement of the factors that contribute to the oscillating mechanism. From there, the seminar will expand to genetic factors required for the circadian system to function properly in a diurnal world, which exhibits clock resetting (entrainment) given the change in photoperiod over the seasons. A biochemical mechanism for clock entrainment will be proposed. Taken together, a genetic pathway to building a gene circuit is "solved" and this leads to the next paradigm shift: elucidation of biochemical mechanisms. |
