Applying for Upper Semesters
With a few exceptions, the programs at the University of Osnabrück accept beginning students only for the winter semester . This means that upper semester students starting at an uneven semester level (3, 5, 7, etc.) are generally accepted for the winter semester, and those starting at an even semester level (2, 4, 6, etc.) are accepted for the summer semester. If you are already registered at a German university > you may apply to the University of Osnabrück for upper semester undergraduate admittance in the same study subject. You must include a copy of your university registration with your application, which will provide information about your status at the university. If you wish to have credit for classes taken in another field, you must submit the appropriate application and proof of the taken classes to the examination board in charge. The Admissions Office (Studierendensekretariat) can provide you with further information. Contact Please do not fail to note the application deadlines: July 15 / January 15 (winter/summer semester)! The University of Osnabrück does not always give credit for all classes taken in foreign universities. Only the examination board (Prüfungsausschuss) of the appropriate School can decide when credit will be given to a student so that he or she can begin studying at a higher semester level. However, it is only possible to assess classes taken abroad when you are already studying at the University of Osnabrück. In order to start this process, go straight to the Admissions Office (Studierendensekretariat). There, you must fill out an application form that will be submitted to the appropriate examination board, along with the rest of your transcripts.
