How Do I Complete the Admissions Procedure?
Awarding Places · Notification of Admission · Registration · Health Insurance · Semesterbeitrag · Long-term Students

Registration / Enrollment (international students)

You will actually enroll (Immatrikulation) at the University after you arrive in Osnabrück. You should register promptly at the beginning of the semester. Generally you will not be permitted to register after October 15 (or April 15, in the case of a summer semester start).

In order to enroll, you must appear in person at the Admissions Office (Studierendensekretariat). Please bring the following:

  • confirmation that you have health insurance in Germany or that you are not obligated to be insured here (this document can be acquired from the Allgemeine Ortskrankenkasse [AOK] of the City of Osnabrück and can only be obtained when your own insurance is recognized in Germany).
  • semester fee receipt
  • passport photo for your file
  • passport containing visa / residence permit
  • original of your secondary school degree(s) (only in some cases)
  • other documents (if requested in your admission letter)

Student ID Card ("Campuscard") > When you have completed your registration, you will receive your certificates of enrollment (Immatrikulationsbescheinigung) from the Admissions Office (Studierendensekretariat).
You will find detailed information on how to receive your Campuscard (student ID card including the semester ticket) on the document that contains your certificates of enrollment: You must upload a photo on the myRZ portal and can then pick up your Campuscard at the Info-Point in the StudiOS bulding.

Your Campuscard will allow you to ride for free on buses in and around Osnabrück and on certain trains operated by the Deutsche Bundesbahn and its partners. For detailed information, see the AStA's website.

You will need your Campuscard to use the library and the cafeteria (Mensa) as well as for copies and print-outs at the university.

Detailed information about the Campuscard is available here (in German).

Some places, such as cinemas, theatres, swimming pools, museums, etc., give student discounts upon presentation of the Campuscard.
