How are places at the University awarded?
At the University of Osnabrück study places for a first semester in undergraduate courses (e.g. Bachelor) are allocated by different procedures:
For international students from non-EU-countries 5% of study places in restricted, undergraduate courses are available. International students form EU/ EEA countries who are interested in restricted undergraduate courses must generally apply by 15th July directly to the university. In restricted, undergraduate courses the same rules for German applicants and EU /EEA applicants apply: In all undergraduate courses with local placement restrictions the study places for the first semester will be allocated as the result of a university-own selection procedure after the pre-contingencies of 80 from 100 have been deducted. The other university places (20%) will be allocated by waiting time. Detailed information can be taken from the statutory sources translated here for informational purposes.
International students from non-EU countries must generally apply via our service partner uni-assist. Further preconditions for a successful application are a university entrance qualification that allows you to study in Germany, an average grade of 3.0 (converted into the German system) and sufficient German language knowledge.
The application deadline is the 15th June of every year.
All applicants must have the necessary language requirements and a university entrance qualification that entitles them to studies at German universities.
