Accomodation for Exchange Students
The International Office helps exchange students find rooms in the dormitories operated by the Studentenwerk Osnabrück. Currently, there are furnished rooms in five dormitories operated by the Studentenwerk Osnabrück: Alte Fabrik, Dodesheide, Salzmarkt, Sedanstraße and Ziegelstraße. Prices run from about 150 to 220 Euro per month. International students are well-cared for in the dormitories: dormitory tutors help them to quickly get used to their new environment. In order to get a room, you must send an application form (Bewerbungsbogen um Aufnahme in ein Studentenwohnheim) along with a passport-size photograph, to the International Office (NOT to Studentenwerk) before the deadline. The application deadline for the winter semester is July 1, and January 1 for the summer semester. Rooms in the dormitories can only be rented for either six months or a year, meaning: Deposit > After arriving in Osnabrück, you must pay a deposit for your rent. The dormitories currently require a deposit of 400 Euro. The deposit will be returned to you after you move out, if you have left your room in a clean and orderly state. Rental Obligations > If, for some reason, you cannot come to Osnabrück, you should inform the International Office right away. If you have already signed a rental agreement, the International Office and the Studentenwerk Osnabrück will try to find someone else to rent your room. More information about the student dormitories is available from the Studentenwerk websites >>
Please note that you are responsible for the rent, however, if another renter cannot be found.
