Dormitories > The first place to go to find student housing is the Housing Office, run by the Studentenwerk. Besides operating the dormitories, they can help you find private housing. There are about 1,800 dormitory rooms available. Types of housing available range from single rooms to shared housing and apartments for families. International students will find that they are well-cared-for in the dormitories: Residence tutors will help you to quickly become familiar with your new environment. Roommate Referral > If you are looking for a quick, temporary solution, the Osnabrück roommate referral service (Mitwohnbüro) is a good place to go. They will quickly help you to find shared housing. Before you move in, you must pay a deposit of 250 Euro for a room, or 500 Euro for an apartment. This will be returned to you after you move out, if you have left your room in an orderly, neat condition.

Private Housing > Private apartments and rooms are more expensive on the average than in a dormitory. A single room in shared housing or a small apartment will cost at least 180 Euro per month. Housing ads can be found in the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung newspaper on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The University’s online Schwarzes Brett publishes ads for housing searches or offers.
The Student Office can also help you to a certain extent with your housing search.
