The graduate programs are conceived as full-time programs with a study period of between two and four semesters. Exceptions are the Psychological Psychotherapy program and the Psychotherapy for Children and Teenagers, which students may participate in while working in their careers. In these cases, the anticipated period of study is ten semesters.
Students in graduate, postgraduate, or complementary study programs are given a new student account containing the appropriate number of semesters. The program finishes with a university exam (Diplom, Magister, Zertifikat) or with a state exam, depending on the program.
In future, there will be tuition for graduate and postgraduate programs. Please see the Schools for more information. Tuition is already being charged for complementary study programs.
Postgraduate Programs
Postgraduate programs offer the opportunity to do research in a specialized area of a previously studied subject or a related subject, and thus acquire additional professional qualifications. The University of Osnabrück offers the following postgraduate programs:
German law for jurists with foreign degrees (Magister Legum)
Complementary Study Programs
The goal of complementary study programs is to provide professional qualifications for professional fields that often have clear limits. The University of Osnabrück offers the following complementary study programs:
Applied Systems Sciences (Diplom)
Tax Law (LLM Taxation) (subject to fee)
Criminal Business Law (LLM) (subject to fee)
Continuing Education Programs
Tuition is required for continuing education programs, which distinguish themselves by an especially close dovetailing of theory and praxis. Practical experience gained in both professional life and the classroom is continually subjected to academic scrutiny. Students acquire the knowledge needed to practice their professions. The University of Osnabrück offers the following continuing education programs:
Psychological Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy for Children and Teenagers
A State examination follows at the close of the psychotherapeutic training; successful candidates will be licensed to practice.
