Driving license
If you come to Osnabrück by car it is important to know that you might need a German driving license if you stay for longer than six months. More information is available from the Team Führerscheine (in German) at the City of Osnabrück.
For short-term stays foreign driving licenses are valid, but have to be accompanied by a German translation or an international driving license.
Driving licenses issued in EU and EWR countries are also valid for longer stays. Driving licenses issued in other countries lose their validity if you live in Germany for longer than six months. You would then need a German driving license if you wish to drive. Do not wait until the end of the six month period to apply for a German driving license. It might take time to have the new license issued and you may to have take the complete driving test after all.
