First steps in Osnabrück

At the beginning of your stay, you will have to take care of many important formalities.

During the first week in Osnabrück you will have to register with the city and in some cases apply for a residence permit (Aufenthaltserlaubnis).

In addition, you will need to acquire health and accident insurance valid in Germany (Krankenversicherung).

In order to simplify your finances, you should also open a bank account.

You will furthermore have to take care of some things at the University: you will probably need an e-mail address and a university library card.

The International Office will be glad to assist you in any way possible and will issue you furthermore with a mensa card for international visiting professors.
