ECTS at the University of Osnabrück
An important requirement for student mobility is the recognition of credits earned abroad or at other universities. ECTS, the European Credit Transfer System, allows students to earn transferable credits in individual courses. For general information on ECTS, please see the EU’s ECTS-Website.
Exchange Students > Before arriving in Germany, exchange students should discuss their course plan with their own university, to find out how they can earn credit for the classes they take in Osnabrück. The ”Transcript of Records” is only given to students who do not plan to earn a degree in Osnabrück and are only spending a short period of time studying here. These students include those from partner universities, students in special exchange programs, and all other students studying in Osnabrück for only one or two semesters. International students who plan to earn a degree in Osnabrück should see the International Students website or inquire at the Students Office.
At the end of their stay, exchange students receive a ”Transcript of Records” (PDF document) containing their ECTS points. These ECTS points are used to calculate course credits earned in Osnabrück at the student’s own university.
Each School at the University of Osnabrück has ECTS Coordinators, who will provide information about the courses offered at the University, as well as individual class credits.
