Under the title "Role Models", the Osnabrück Symphony Orchestra will then focus on the exciting relationship between tradition and modernity and present two masterpieces of the 20th century that refer to musical traditions in different ways.
The program includes "Le Tombeau de Couperin" by Maurice Ravel and the "Divertimento for Strings" by Béla Bartók.
Maurice Ravel's "Le Tombeau de Couperin" is a subtle homage to French Baroque music and at the same time a silent remembrance of friends who died in the war. Ravel combines baroque dance forms with his unmistakable transparency of sound and lends the work a floating lightness despite its serious background. Béla Bartók's "Divertimento for Strings" is a work that is rooted in the form of the baroque concerto grosso, but is also characterized by Bartók's characteristic folk music influence, rhythmic energy and emotional depth.
The concert will be conducted by Benjamin Huth. The evening will be led by Prof. Dr. Stefan Hanheide from the Institute of Musicology and Music Education at Osnabrück University.
Tickets are available at a price of €25 (concessions €12.50). Advance tickets are available from the theater box office. The theater flat rate applies to university and college students.
