Beyond your own workplace: University launches new initiative - get involved!

How can university employees look beyond their own area of work and get involved in a university initiative at the same time? As part of the "Employee recruitment and retention" project, they now have the opportunity to use five percent of their working time for work shadowing or to participate in temporary university initiatives. "Our main aim is to offer our employees the opportunity to get involved outside of their actual field of work and thus not only advance our university, but also develop personally," says Vice President for International Affairs, Diversity and Academic Staff Development, Prof. Dr. Andrea Lenschow.

"From now on, you will have the opportunity to contribute your ideas, wishes and talents even more to creative projects, even beyond your actual activities," adds Dr. Wilfried Hötker, Vice President for Human Resources and Finance. These include, for example, environmental and sustainability initiatives, internal process improvements and shadowing in other areas or teams at the university. An example of this could be getting involved as a mentor for international researchers or discovering your own green fingers through a "green sponsorship" or tending a vegetable patch. Employees can get involved in existing initiatives, but can also contribute personal suggestions and ideas for an initiative.

All information on the framework conditions and participation can be found on the  uos intern. The current initiatives and the respective contact persons are listed on the  central project page on the intranet.

Several thumbs and speech bubbles can be seen.
