International Summer Schools

International students at Northsea beach

For over a decade, Osnabrück University has hosted students from all over the world for its International Summer Schools. With a mixture of well-established programs and innovative courses, they represent a unique opportunity to experience student life at a renowned German University and engage in research activities in a variety of fields. As a participant, you will get to enjoy challenging academic classes, a variety of cultural activities, introductory German lessons as well as an exciting buddy program.

Before and during the program, we, the team for international short-term programs, have made it our top priority to provide you with a hassle-free experience and assist you with any and all administrative and organizational matters, so that you can focus on the academic portion of the program. We will assist you in attaining a visa, inform you about health care and insurance matters, take care of finding you a suitable accommodation for the duration of the program, provide pick-up service from the train station, and help you find your way around Osnabrück and Germany. We also provide 24/7 assistance via an emergency phone number.

Application for the 2024 Summer School programs starts in January 2024, with application deadline on April 14, 2024 You can find our course offers and more information concerning the Summer Schools here.

International Spring School

Every year in May, Osnabrück University hosts 25 Honors College students from the University of South Florida to engage in an International Spring School on German History and Culture for the duration of three weeks. As part of the program, students engage in classroom and cultural activities suited for improving both their German language proficiency as well as their understanding of German History and Culture, and the various intersections between the three. The program is tightly coordinated with professors and coordinators from the University of South Florida and participating students are prepared for the Spring School at their home university in the preceding term.

As with the Summer School program, we strive to make the experience hassle-free, enriching, and diverse for all participating students. As such, we offer multiple excursions to a variety of German cities (e.g. Dresden, Weimar, Berlin, Hamburg) as well as visits to memorials, museums, art galleries, theaters, and more during their stay. All administrative concerns - be it accommodation, transfer, or transportation in and around Osnabrück - are taken care of on our end so that our partners can enjoy the academic and cultural program without distraction.

International Winter Schools

After years of experience with Short-Term Programs, we decided to extend our program portfolio and, for the first time, offer two International Winter Schools in December 2024!

Our inceptive open application winter program will be centered around German culture and traditions during winter and Christmas time. It combines classroom instruction with projects and activities: from cooking and baking, to visiting Christmas markets, to learning about wintertime traditions. Find the program details in the link above!
