Registration and Enrollment
Exchange students from partner universities enroll during the Welcome Week.
Generally, you will not be permitted to register after October 15 or April 15.
You will actually enroll as a student ("Immatrikulation") at the University after you arrive in Osnabrück.
You should register promptly at the beginning of the semester.The registration period is mentioned in your admission letter.
To enroll, you must visit the Admissions Office (Studierendensekretariat) in person. Please take the following with you:
- confirmation that you have health insurance in Germany or that you are exempt from being insured here (this document can be acquired from the AOK ("Allgemeine Ortskrankenkasse") of the City of Osnabrück and can only be obtained if your own insurance coverage is recognized in Germany)
- semester fee receipt
- passport containing visa/residence permit
- original of your secondary school diploma(s) (only in some cases)
- other documents (if requested in your letter of admission)
EU/EEA students who have applied for a Bachelor program through the University's online application system may enroll online. They will find detailed information concerning enrollment in the online application portal.
Once you have completed your registration, you will receive your Campuscard (student ID card) and certificates of enrollment (Immatrikulationsbescheinigung). It also serves as library, mensa and copy card.
Your Campuscard will allow you to ride for free on buses in and around Osnabrück and on certain trains. For detailed information, see the AStA's website.
