Welcome Week for new international students

From 25 – 28 March 2024, the International Office organises a welcome week for new international students that features a number of events, (digital) workshops and campus/city tours. New students that have to register with the foreigners’ office may do so during the group appointment on 1 April. No registration required. Friend Family Program

You want to make friends outside of the university? Then, our Friend Family Program is what you need to sign up for!

The idea of this program is to give international students the opportunity to learn more about the German culture and dive into the everyday life in Germany – off campus and outside of the usual student environment. The Friend Family program promotes the interaction between international students and local German families (which can consist of a couple with or without children and single parents and persons). At the same time, it gives families living in Osnabrück the chance to get to know you – your country, your culture and your way of life!

After matching you with a family, you will get to know your family in the first introductory meeting and then it is up to you and your family to decide on whether you want continue further get-togethers (how often, when, what to do). This could be local sight-seeing, a city stroll or simply chatting over a cup of coffee in a nice and cozy café.

Please keep in mind that in order to participate in the friend family program you should be staying in Osnabrück at least until next summer.
