Decentralized gender equality work at FB01
Welcome to the website of the decentralized Equal Opportunities Office of the School of Cultural Studies and Social Sciences at Osnabrück University. We are committed to making the school and the entire university a place without discrimination based on gender, origin, racial discrimination, sexual identity or lack of accessibility, among other things. In addition to equality between women and men, which is an important component of the equality mandate, we base our work on an intersectional understanding of discrimination. At our school, we are therefore the first point of contact for problems and advice and also support recruitment and appointment procedures.
Legal basis
In addition to the legal requirements of the Basic Law (on equal rights for women and men) and the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (gender equality mandate), Osnabrück University, as a member of the German Research Foundation (DFG), has expressly committed itself to the introduction and implementation of the "research-oriented gender equality standards" adopted in 2008 on the basis of self-imposed targets for increasing the proportion of women at academic qualification levels. As part of the strategy process, the "Future Concept UOS 2020" was adopted in July 2016, in which the topics of gender equality and family friendliness were defined as cross-cutting tasks.
Gender Equality Plan
Here you can download the Gender Equality Plan 2023-2027 of the School of Cultural Studies and Social Sciences.
In July 2023, FB1 adopted the Gender Equality Plan 2023-2027 (see box on the right), which sets out specific objectives and measures for gender equality work. In addition to the original focus of equality work, which is based on a binary gender model and works towards Social Equity for women and men, this equality plan discusses qualitative goals and measures on diversity and anti-discrimination at the school for the first time. The Dean's Office is responsible for implementing the equality plan and involves the Equal Opportunities Commission and decentralized Equal Opportunities Officers as experts.
