I am a physical geographer largely focused on landscape ecology, biogeomorphology, soil erosion and ecohydrology. My research interests include the bioprotective roles of plant traits and, particularly forest vegetation layers regarding sediment and nutrient translocation. Moreover, I investigate how biological soil crusts, soil mesofauna and plant species richness affect soil degradation and enable restoration. For that purpose, I'm also interested in improvements of in-situ erosion measurements using state-of-the-art sensor technology and ai-based modelling.
