The conference aims to contribute to raising awareness of new research approaches from emotion research in ancient studies and to demonstrate their added value for ancient studies research using interdisciplinary case studies. The aim of the conference is to demonstrate the diverse use of emotions and their potential for research. The aim is to break open the structures of established content and methodological work on topics such as politics, law and cult, violence and the military, gender and family, as well as poetry and literature. For they are not areas isolated from emotions, but on the contrary are shaped by emotions. This opens up new perspectives. The history of emotions in no way replaces previous research, but rather complements the existing historical picture of antiquity. Neither can emotions be thought of in historical studies alone, nor can other disciplines of ancient studies be carried out without taking emotions into account. Both aspects are inevitably linked, as the contributions to the conference show. Established researchers such as Douglas Cairns, Dennis Pausch, Christiane Kunst and Meike Rühl enrich the program with their expertise.
