Research

The research profile of the Institute for Art/Art Education reflects a close intertwining of art, design, and science. Building on this foundation, research focuses on interdisciplinary areas such as “Art and Science,” “Art and Society,” and “Art, Design, and (Post-)Digitalization,” with the aim of opening up new perspectives on current scientific, technological, social, and transcultural issues in the context of art, design, and/or education.

Here you will find an overview of selected research projects, (international) research collaborations, and publications that shape our institute. In addition, we offer opportunities for academic qualification (Ph.D.) and support early-career researchers on their path into research.

SteamSpace Education
[Interdisciplinary and Transdisciplinary Approaches]

SteamSpace combines science, design, and art in interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary learning formats and experiments. The project fosters future skills such as creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking to explore and develop sustainable and forward-looking solutions.
