Paths to Studying Abroad
Students have various options for spending a few weeks, months, or one to two semesters abroad as part of their studies:
- University partnerships (International Office)
- Erasmus+ partnerships (departments)
- Departmental partnerships (academic departments)
- Self-organized study abroad (“Freemover”)
- Short-term programs, e.g. , summer schools
- Internships Abroad

International Partnerships
The Institute for Art and Art Education welcomes Erasmus students from its partner universities. International study stays promote academic exchange and open up new perspectives on art, education, and culture.
We currently have partnerships with the following universities:
The Erasmus Program offers support for a one- to two-semester study abroad program at a European partner university:
- Monthly Erasmus grant (amount varies by country group)
- Recognition of academic credits earned while studying abroad
- Support services for international students at the host university
- Stay and funding opportunities for up to twelve months
Before applying for a study abroad program, please note the following information:
- Before applying, please visit the partner university’s website to familiarize yourself with academic requirements, course offerings, semester dates, and language requirements. Identify potential courses in advance and compile them into an overview.
- Since the partnership is with the department, you must assume that you will only be able to study within that department at the partner university.
- Erasmus students generally cannot stay abroad longer than the agreed-upon period.
