About the school

Above all, lawyers learn how to avoid disputes and, when disputes do arise, how to mediate and resolve them. They also learn how to use the law to achieve their goals. Some people find this boring. But it isn’t at all. In reality, lawyers learn a “martial art” for peaceful disputes and, at the same time, how to create the conditions for trusting cooperation between people and states.
Legal studies deal—naturally—with the law, that is, the state rules, commands, and prohibitions that govern how people live together. Here in Osnabrück, we focus particularly on business law, European law, and digitalization.
Lawyers learn how to determine which rules apply and why they exist. After all, legal rules exist everywhere—not just in traffic, but also within families, at school, in businesses, between neighbors, between nations, and even on the high seas and in outer space. If you don’t follow them, you’ll run into trouble with government agencies, the police, and the courts.

There are four key points to consider when studying law in Osnabrück:

Quality of education

Across the state, Osnabrück students achieve the best results and the lowest failure rate on written exams. We prepare our students optimally for the exam through tutorials, study groups, online lectures, and a vast library with outstanding facilities and quiet study areas that stays open until 10 p.m.

Quality of life

Short distances. Close contact with professors. A central downtown location with plenty of cafés. Field trips, student initiatives, evening discussions, and, last but not least, lots of parties.

International character
