Feedback and Conflicts

Feedback

As a student, you’re often the first to notice when something goes wrong:

  • Are there textbooks missing from the textbook collection?
  • Do the workshops overlap with the lecture, leaving you torn between them?
  • Do you have a good idea for a soft skill workshop or a speaker we could invite for a guest lecture?

With nearly 2,000 students, it’s almost inevitable that some legitimate criticism won’t reach the right people quickly enough or that a good idea won’t be picked up on in time.

You can send criticism and complaints, as well as your good ideas regarding studies and teaching, to  feedback.jura@uni-osnabrueck.de at any time. We read your messages carefully, try to implement your ideas or address your concerns, and will get back to you reliably. Of course, the student council remains available as a point of contact for student matters.

Disputes

Wherever people interact, conflicts arise regularly. Conflicts can also occur at various levels within the university, not least between faculty and students. If you find yourself in a situation where direct communication between the parties involved does not seem possible and you are seeking help or advice, Osnabrück University has various points of contact available to you, depending on the nature of the conflict.

If there is suspicion that a member of the school or the university has committed research misconduct, the  university’s ombuds committees for good research practice can be contacted.

During the course of a Doctorate, conflicts may arise between the parties involved that make trusting collaboration difficult and significantly impair work on the dissertation or the Doctorate process. The  ZePrOs Mediation Office is available specifically for these types of conflicts arising in the context of Doctorate supervision.

If you have been affected by sexual harassment, discrimination, or other inappropriate behavior on the part of a faculty member in the school, you have the option of finding a professional contact person to whom you can speak confidentially. If you have experienced a situation and are unsure whether a line has been crossed, initial counselors will help you assess the situation and also inform you about possible next steps. In such cases of gender-based misconduct, please contact the  counseling team at the University’s Central Office for Gender Equality.

We encourage individuals affected by inappropriate behavior within the school to report incidents and take advantage of the university’s support and counseling services. All matters will, of course, be treated confidentially.
