The Lower Saxony State Seminar of the International Biology Olympiad hosted in Osnabrück

At the Lower Saxony state seminar for the International Biology Olympiad, twelve school pupils explored the CellNanOs research centre and the Rainforest House and conducted experiments in the Explain-OS school laboratory.

On January 11 and 12, the School of Biology/Chemistry hosted the Lower Saxony state seminar for the third round of the International Biology Olympiad. A varied programme awaited the twelve participating students, including a guided tour around the Center for Cellular Nanoanalytics (CellNanOs), a visit to the Botanical Garden's rainforest house and plenty of time to get hands-on in the Explain-OS student laboratory.

Women in Science: Networking symposium for members of Collaborative Research Centre 1557

Under the motto “broaden your network and horizon”, the 12th “Women in Science” symposium took place in Osnabrück on March 5 and 6. The conference was organised by Prof. Dr. Kerstin Bartscherer, Dr. Lena Tveriakhina and Prof. Dr. Bin Qu.

Visit by the head of government: Minister President Olaf Lies visits the CellNanOs

With its state-of-the-art imaging infrastructure, the CellNanOs offers unique opportunities to both researchers and students at Osnabrück University. Now, the Minister President of Lower Saxony was able to see this for himself during a guided tour.

Climate protection needs diversity: Botanical Garden involved in wild plant conservation project

At the beginning of 2026, a project was launched that focuses on the important contributions of botanical species conservation to natural climate protection. One of the project partners is the Botanical Garden at Osnabrück University.
