We would like to inform all students and teaching staff that University building 35, Part C (including the biology seminar and practical rooms, amongst others) must undergo extensive refurbishment in accordance with current fire safety regulations. The aim is to ensure that the building is used in compliance with fire safety regulations, thereby guaranteeing the safety of everyone in the building.
Timetable and impact on teaching
The refurbishment work is expected to take seven months. During this period, no lectures, seminars or practical sessions can take place in the affected rooms. However, safety and an undisturbed learning environment are our top priorities.
To maintain teaching activities, alternative rooms will be set up for the duration of the building works. These will be available for lectures and seminars as well as practical sessions, so that teaching can continue without interruption.
Move to building 36 from January 2027
From January 2027, almost all biology teaching will take place on the 3rd floor of building 36. In autumn 2026, the laboratory and workrooms of the Neurobiology and Genetics divisions, which will then be vacant, will be prepared for teaching purposes. This will create five practical training rooms and four seminar rooms, including a temporary computer room.
Modernisation and new appointments
The two divisions will be modernised in the run-up to the planned appointments to the professorships in Genetics and Neurobiology. This will enable the newly appointed professors to commence their work immediately. During the refurbishment phase, staff will temporarily use interim rooms, which are currently being prepared. Once the relocation of staff from both divisions is complete, the third floor of building 36 will be prepared for biology teaching, so that the rooms can be occupied in December 2026.
We would like to thank you for your understanding and cooperation during the refurbishment work. If you have any further questions or any concerns that remain unresolved, please do not hesitate to contact us at studkoordbio@uni-osnabrueck.de.
