Please note:
Compulsory Courses: Concrete courses that ought to be passed
Optional Compulsory: Specialisations (see study regulation) chosen by the student that can be filled with courses from that specialisation area
Free Electives: Any university course (can but need not be cognitive science related)
This combination of courses is a suggestion. Overall, it is recommended to take courses worth of around 30ECTS total per semester, but this may naturally vary slightly. Courses taken during your semester abroad (typically 5th semester), can in some cases, upon student request, be assigned to “Optional Compulsory” modules. The distribution of optional compulsory courses and free electives is therefore more variable than the graphic depicts. Even compulsory courses can be taken during other semesters, though the compulsory courses serve as introductory classes upon which optional compulsory courses build. Please note that each compulsory course is only offered once a year (either during the summer or the winter term). Leaving compulsory courses to a later semester can unexpectedly prolong your studies.
