New Appointment in the Dean of Studies Office
Prof. Dr. Stefanie Engel will take over the office of Dean of Studies for the Department of Business Administration and Economics from April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2027.
Major "Sustainability, Behavior, and Environmental Policy"
in the Master's Program Economics
Since the summer semester 2023 it is possible to choose the major "Sustainability, Behavior and Environmental Policy" in the Master Economics.
In a video presentation on the major in the Master Economics program from December 2021, Prof. Dr. Engel and Zhana Elian present the content of the specialization.

In the summer semester 2026, the Department of Environmental Economics offers the following course:
"Economics of Environmental Behavior and Policy" (MA)
You can enroll in the course in Stud.IP.
The following Seminars will be offered:
"Contemporary debates on climate change" (BA)
"Economic growth, well-being and environmental quality" (MA)
"The Inner Development Goals as a novel approach for sustainability transformation" (MA)
The participant allocation for the bachelor seminar will take place via HISinOne. The application process begins on January 22, 2026, and remains open until January 31, 2026. Places will be allocated on February 2 and 3, 2026.
The selection of participants is done manually after the registration and based on individual applications. As an application, we ask to send your current performance record (OPIUM Leistungsnachweis) to bee-teaching@uni-osnabrueck.de. The application deadline for the seminar “Economic growth, well-being, and environmental quality” is March 17, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. The application deadline for the seminar “The Inner Development Goals as a novel approach for sustainability transformation” is April 14, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. (please double-check this with the dates on Stud.IP). If you are part of the MSc program in Economics and are planning to do the specialization in ‚Sustainability, behavior and environmental policy‘, please indicate so in your application email. Students from the specialization and those close to finishing their studies will be given priority.
It is planned to offer two further block courses (MA) taught by external lecturers, one on "Empirical Methods for Poverty and Inequality" and one on "Non-market valuation with discrete choice experiments". The information about these courses will be uploaded on Stud.IP in February.

If you are part of the MSc program in Economics and are planning to do the specialization in ‚Sustainability, behavior and environmental policy‘, please indicate so in your application email. Students from the specialization, those close to finishing their studies and those that have already participate in our modules (with good grades) will be given priority.

In the summer semester 2024, Prof. Engel will be on sabbatical. Nevertheless, the main courses will be offered by the team and partly supported by video recordings. Thesis supervision continues as usual.
