The department is part of the Institute of Empirical Economic Research, which consists of the merger of the three predominantly empirically oriented chairs of Macroeconomics, Econometrics and Statistics and International Economic Policy.

In WS 2025/26, Prof. Westermann will be on a research semester and will not offer any courses. Prof. Wilde's Master's project seminar may then be offered in English. Further courses in the department can be found under Courses.
Sievert-Foundation Visiting Professor for Research on the Asian Economy
The financial support from the Sievert Foundation for Science and Culture makes it possible to invite two to three internationally renowned top academics to Osnabrück every year to the School of Business Administration and Economics, who each occupy the visiting professorship for around two weeks as part of the Institute of Empirical Economic Research (IEER)'s Economics Research Seminar.
