FAQs

Final theses

Depending on the degree program, different requirements must be met to register for the final thesis. Please refer to the examination regulations that apply to you. Admission requirements may have to be fulfilled before registering for a Master's thesis. Please submit an  application for admission to (PDF, 189 kB) the Examinations Office in good time before you start working on your thesis.

Before starting work on your thesis, you must submit the so-called  routing slip (PDF, 737 kB) to your supervising department. The department formulates the topic, sets a start date in consultation with you and forwards the routing slip to the Examinations Office. The Examinations Office will notify you of the topic by email and inform you of the submission date. You must confirm receipt of the e-mail immediately so that the registration of the thesis can be recorded in the examination management software (EXA). Without a timely confirmation, your topic will expire.

The "Declaration of Honor" must be inserted and signed at the end of all written work. The link to this can be found in the admission letter from the examinations office for Bachelor's or Master's theses.

Please submit your thesis in double hardbound form (no spiral binding!) to the Examinations Office by the specified date at the latest. In addition, please submit an electronic version on the appropriate medium or send the thesis as a pdf file to the Examinations Office and the department. The submission of a pdf file to  pruefamtfb9@uos.de and the department (by 11:59 pm) on the day of submission meets the deadline.

Please check again before submission whether the topic corresponds to the topic we have issued and sign the declaration of honor at the end of your work in all versions (print and pdf version).

Submit the two print versions to the Examinations Office (Room 22/E20) after making an appointment by telephone. Alternatively, the printed versions can also be sent by post or handed in at the university's post office. The postal address is:

Osnabrück University
School of Business Administration and Economics
Office of the Examination Board
49069 Osnabrück

If you fall ill, please use the  form for the doctor's visit (PDF, 399 kB). The days of illness will be counted towards the processing time.

Please note that a simple inability to work cannot be used to determine an inability to take an examination!

You must be enrolled until the date of actual submission of the thesis. This no longer applies to the time of assessment by the examiners. If the final thesis is the last work to be completed in the respective degree program, you can have yourself de-registered at the Admissions Office (StudiOS) after submitting the thesis.

Please note: If you de-register within one month of the start of courses in the semester in question, the full tuition fees will be refunded (please contact StudiOS for the exact deadline).

Examinations/ examination and study achievements

Registration for examinations takes place within a period set by the examinations office.

The period for registering for seminars and projects is determined in consultation with the departments.

The start date for final theses will be communicated to you by the examinations office in consultation with the supervising department.

Under the following link you will find information on the  recognition of study and examination achievements.

Withdrawal from an examination must be requested from the Examinations Office. Please use the  form for the doctor's visit (PDF, 399 kB), which you must fill in, sign and send to the  Examinations Office . It is not sufficient to submit a simple certificate of incapacity for work (AU)!

The explanations on the "Joker rule" can be found in § 14 paragraph 4 of the respective examination regulations. The Joker rule does not apply to PO2014 (Wiwi) and PO2017 (WInf).

If you have already completed 150 credit points, you may bring forward credits from the Master's degree programs.

Passing Master's examinations does not entitle you to a Master's place. After enrolment in the Master's degree program, the examinations office will transfer the credits from the additional credits to the Master's account.
