Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Economics (BWL/VWL)
With our Bachelor's degree course in Business Administration and Economics, we offer a joint degree course in Business Administration and Economics, which leads to a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.).
The course is designed as a full-time course of study with a total of 180 credit points (CP) over three years.
The structure of the course varies slightly depending on when you start. If you started your studies between the winter semester 2014/2015 and the summer semester 2022, a different version of the examination regulations will apply to you. Structure of the degree program - start of studies from winter semester 2022/2023
The Bachelor's degree course is designed to take three years, i.e. six semesters. The following table illustrates the structure of the degree program:

1 In the compulsory elective area (65 CP), students must choose at least 10 CP each from the areas of Business Administration and Economics and Methods. Furthermore, the modules in the compulsory elective area can be combined according to the student's interests in a specialization and/or focus.

During the first three and a half semesters, you will study various mandatory modules (105 CP) in the most important areas of Business Administration and Economics and their relevant methods.
From the fourth semester onwards, you can choose the subjects within the required electives component (65 CP) according to your own interests and goals. You must observe the following minimum requirements:
You must complete required electives modules worth at least 10 CP in the area of Business Administration and at least 10 CP in the area of Economics and Methods, as well as at least one seminar worth at least 5 CP. The specified minimum requirements must be fulfilled independently of each other: Credit points from the three requirements cannot be credited for more than one category!
It is possible to choose a specialization and/or a focus (subfield). A specialization can also be combined with a focus (subfield), or chosen independently of each other.
It is also possible to complete the Bachelor's degree without a specialization or focus (subfield). In this case, only the above-mentioned minimum requirements according to §3 section 7 of the examination regulations must be observed.
In order to obtain a degree with a specialization and/or focus (subfield) at the end of your studies, you must design your required electives component accordingly. At least 40 CP from the chosen area must be completed for a specialization or focus (subfield):

You can find out which modules can be selected for the respective specializations in the overview for the B.Sc. in Business Administration and Economics in the module catalog of the School of Business Administration and Economics. In addition, you can also view possible modules in Stud.IP via the module catalog or the individual study areas with the courses of a selected semester via the course catalog. The courses of the summer semester are usually made visible in Stud.IP in January/February and the courses of the winter semester in June/July.
Some of the specializations contain a so-called narrower group as an additional condition: Certain modules have been defined for the narrower group. From this sub-selection, modules with the specified scope must be selected so that the desired specialization can be shown on the certificate.
The General Competencies area offers you the opportunity to integrate selected courses from related and complementary disciplines such as law or psychology into your studies for a maximum total of 10 CP.
At the beginning of your studies, you should take a close look at the relevant examination regulations for your degree program. The examination regulations contain legally binding regulations on the timing, content and organization of the respective degree course. These include information on course content (compulsory and compulsory elective modules) and examinations (requirements, repeatability, free attempt).

Under certain conditions, you can have an internship of at least six weeks, a working student activity of at least six months or a comparable activity credited via the practice module for 5 CP as part of the compulsory elective area.

The third year of study also offers a good opportunity to integrate a semester abroad into your studies. With appropriate planning, a semester abroad is also possible without extending your study time.

Have you already completed coursework and examinations in another degree program or at another university or are you planning to spend a semester abroad?
As part of your degree program, you have the opportunity to have coursework and examinations recognized upon application to a certain extent and under certain conditions. Please note the regulations in § 21 of your examination regulations.

Special regulations apply to coursework and examinations from module examinations at the School of Business Administration and Economics at Osnabrück University in accordance with Section 21 (2) of the PO B.Sc. in Business Administration and Economics: These are credited ex officio, including failed attempts. Upon application, you can waive the crediting of (selected) modules that are provided for in the compulsory elective area according to these examination regulations.
The successful completion of your studies includes a Bachelor's thesis in the field of Business Administration (including IT) or in the field of Economics and Methods.
In order to be able to write a Bachelor's thesis, you must have completed at least 120 credit points at the time of binding registration (i.e. at the start of the processing period).
You must take part in the central allocation procedure in the previous semester in order to be allocated a Bachelor's thesis place: These take place approximately in January/February for the summer semester and in June/July for the winter semester.
At the time of participation in the allocation procedure, the starting requirements do not have to be completely fulfilled; however, they must be fulfilled at the latest when the examinations office allocates the topics at the beginning of the processing phase in the respective target semester.

If you are planning to write your Bachelor's thesis in cooperation with a company, we recommend that you contact the relevant departments in advance.
In principle, there is no entitlement to a practice-oriented thesis. However, if the project that you would like to carry out in your company as part of your thesis is also interesting from an academic perspective, you have a good chance of convincing our professors of your project. The search for a suitable company is your responsibility.
After successfully completing your studies, you can go straight on to a Master's degree. The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Economics gives you access to our Master's degree courses in Business Administration and Economics. Alternatively, you also have the opportunity to qualify for Vocational Teacher Education.
It is also possible to enrol on our Master's degree courses if you do not yet have a Bachelor's degree. You can enrol for one of the above-mentioned Master's degree programs via the Osnabrück University application portal from as little as 150 LP.
