Lecturer: Cristine Saxon, B.A., M.A., CDPP (Owner, Cristine Saxon Coaching and Consulting)
is a professional leadership consultant who provides individualized coaching to professional clients and teaches workshops on a variety of leadership topics, including coaching and mentoring, leading change, emotional intelligence and motivation. She has over 25 years of experience as a coach, advisor, instructor, facilitator and leadership consultant in a variety of settings, mainly in higher education, the non-profit industry and as a self-employed consultant. She has lived in four provinces in Canada during her professional career, and has worked in a wide variety of roles in the human services field, including academic advising, employment counseling, non-profit leadership, post-secondary student services, disabilities services and human resources.

Content:
Diversity and inclusion (D&I) has become an integral part of leadership development and organizational culture. We will consider the business case for creating more inclusion, and the ethical or human case for creating opportunities for all people. Growing your D&I competency as a leader starts with self-awareness and understanding of others.

Cristine intentionally creates an interactive ‘learning lab’ environment in the classroom to help participants improve their own diversity literacy by facing what may make them somewhat uncomfortable, such as learning about possible unconscious biases they have, and learning from others about how they would want to be treated. Participants will walk away with skills to challenge non-inclusive behaviours responsibly, and ideas for creating dialogues within groups to create
more inclusive teams and practices.
