A good English language competence is essential for communicating well in international academic contexts. This course is, therefore, designed to help you develop, refresh, and/or expand your knowledge of some key areas of academic English grammar, vocabulary, and usage.
We will continue the work we started in the summer semester, but it is certainly possible to join this course without having attended the previous one.
Some of the topics we will cover are:
• key uses of verbs in academic texts;
• gerunds and infinitives;
• expressing conditionality and modality
• emphasizing a point;
• citing and referencing;
• describing and explaining;
• comparing and contrasting;
• using electronic resources for developing language skills. |
