Meshwar Mixtapes is a listening session project built around one idea: using music, storytelling, and lived experience to take audiences on a journey through places often understood only through headlines. Inspired by the Arabic word meshwar — meaning journey — the project creates intimate spaces for reflection, connection, and deeper cultural understanding.
The series began with Introduction to Palestine by Deema Amr, a session that explored Palestine through personal narrative, sound, memory, and resistance. Rather than presenting history as distant or abstract, the session invited audiences into the emotional and human realities of Palestinian life and identity.
Since then, Meshwar Mixtapes has continued to expand into new regions and stories, using carefully curated listening experiences to hold space for dialogue, empathy, and collective listening.
Speaker Deema Amr is a Palestinian filmmaker, curator, DJ, and the founder of Meshwar Mixtapes. Performing under the name DJ DumTak, she is known for creating immersive musical experiences that blend eclectic sounds, storytelling, and cultural memory into deeply atmospheric sets. Her work moves fluidly between music and film, using sound as a way to build connection, emotion, and shared experience across audiences and spaces.
This session is part of our exploration of Other Epistemologies.
