Beschreibung

This seminar focuses on 1) learning about the cultural variation in various areas of development (i.e., development of external and internal problem behaviour, development of personality or development of social relations), and 2) training the skills of scientific argumentation through an Oxford style debate on culture.

As a consequence of the structure and content, the seminar will not take place weekly (as indicated in the Dauerhafte Lehrplanung), but in a two full-day block seminar fashion.

In an obligatory introductory session on the first Thursday of the semester (04th April), more information will be given and the decision of the specific dates of the block weekend will be made jointly with the students.

The potential dates for the block seminar are Friday 10th May/Saturday 11th May or Friday 24th May/Saturday 25th May or Friday 21st June/Saturday 22nd June or Friday 28th June/Saturday 29th June.

The seminar will be delivered in English. To pass the seminar, students are required to actively contribute to the Oxford style debate (preferably in English, though you may also deliver your Studienleistung in German), or to hand in a written discussion paper in case of absence during the block weekend. Students will not experience any disadvantages in case they are unavailable for all proposed Block seminar dates - in this case, please contact the lecturer in the first session.
