Positioning yourself in your academic writing

Beschreibung
One important feature of the academic texts you are asked to write at university is positionality: You are supposed to express your stance towards your own ideas and those of others. At the same time, you may have heard of academic writing conventions that restrict the way in which you can do this. In this workshop, we will look at stance expressions and discuss their rhetoric functions. You will find out how these expressions are typically used in your discipline, so that you can make informed decisions about using them in your own texts.
