Prerequisites: Students should be comfortable with formal approaches and have basic programming skills in Java or Python.

Intelligent behaviour can emerge in biological systems in various ways. Nature-inspired algorithms solve search and optimization problems based on similar ideas. For instance, Swarm Intelligence Algorithms are inspired by social behaviour of organisms like bacteria, insects or mammals. Evolutionary algorithms take ideas from evolutionary and genetic models. Artificial Immune Systems are inspired by models of the immune systems.

The seminar will consist of lectures, programming tasks and discussions.
