Beschreibung

In this course, you will learn the basic skills of working with neuroscientific data. Hereby we will focus on the kind of data that is investigated at our institute, i.e. EEG, Eye Tracking and behavioral data, and perform the most basic statistical analysis and data visualizations on it. Although we will only cover the basics, afterwards, you will have acquired enough programming and analysis skills to start your own research project!

You can follow the content of the course at your own pace. It is generally meant for undergraduate and graduate students who have limited prior knowledge in data analyses and python programming but are not totally new to either of them – it is sort of a “starter pack for NBP newbies”. But don’t worry, in case you don’t know anything about python programming or statistics, we have some really useful tutorials for you. If you are new to both, data analysis and python programming, you should however give yourself one or two additional weeks in order to lay a proper groundwork before starting with this course. The whole content and structuring of the course can be found in the courseware section. Just follow the instructions there and you won’t miss anything. After this course, you will be able to code your own preprocessing and analysis scripts – and you will have learnt that coding websites and forums like Stackoverflow are your best friends. Those are very valuable skills for working with data in science, especially in neuroscience! We will only be able to cover the basics; yet, afterwards you will have acquired all the essential skills to expand this basis for your own projects.
