Research Assistant (m/f/d)
(salary scale 13 TV-L, 50%)

The Quantum Spintronics group of the Osnabrück University’s department of physics is seeking to appoint a Research Assistant to commence work at the earliest possible date. This is a temporary, three-year position.

Your Duties:

  • Development of methods to detect and control single electron spins interacting with color centers in diamond 
  • Assistance in teaching physics courses totaling 2 hours per week during term time (2 "Semesterwochenstunden - SWS") 
  • You are expected to develop your scientific qualification aiming at a doctorate ("Promotion")


  • Candidates must have an above-average (equivalent to "gut" or better) university degree in physics or a related technical discipline (engineering, physical chemistry, etc.
  • Solid knowledge in at least one of the following fields is required: magnetic resonance, single molecule spectroscopy, experiment control and automation

Additional Qualifications:

  • Self-driven personality, interested in independent thinking and acting
  • You enjoy developing experimental methods and/or theoretical models in an interdisciplinary environment
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English; German is a plus
  • Programming skills for experiment control, preferably in Python
