Lecturer: Cristine Saxon, B.A., M.A., CDPP (owner of Cristine Saxon Coaching and Consulting)
is a professional leadership consultant who provides individualized coaching to professional clients and teaches workshops on a variety of leadership topics, including coaching and mentoring, leading change, emotional intelligence and motivation. She has over 25 years of experience as a coach, advisor, instructor, facilitator and leadership consultant in a variety of settings, mainly in higher education, the non-profit industry and as a self-employed consultant. She has worked in a wide variety of roles in the human services field, including academic advising, employment counseling, non-profit leadership, post-secondary student services, disabilities services and human resources.

Content:
Values-based leadership deepens trust and understanding and can create a more meaningful experience for each person, and better outcomes for the team. Since humans are so diverse and each person has their own set of core values, leading people can be rich, complex, and sometimes challenging. Leading with awareness of your own values, and an openness to listening for other people’s values, can help you to tailor your leadership rather than automatically projecting your own values and expectations onto others.

Participants will complete values assessments in advance, bringing their results to explore together in a safe, open, and interactive way. You will walk away having deepened your understanding of your own values and also learned practical strategies to adapt your approach in leading others based on what matters most to each person: their core values. We will explore how these same wonderful, important core values can both help us and hinder us, because they matter so much. By connecting intentionally with other participants, you will experience how values can both bring people together by creating a common focus on what matters, and can set people apart when their values differ significantly.

Participants will walk away with enhanced self-awareness, other-awareness, and several values-focused strategies to lead people more effectively.

Please note: The workshop will be in English, with opportunities to speak English or German in small groups and interactive activities. Mid- to advanced-level English skills would be most suitable for success in this workshop. Come practice your English in a welcoming environment, participate in self-awareness activities and learn new strategies for self-improvement and leadership development for your professional career.
