Ortwin Renn

Ortwin Renn’s main areas of research are risk analysis (governance, perception and communication), the theory and practice of public participation in public projects, transformation research, and social and technological change towards sustainable development. His research focuses on systemic risks and transformation processes aimed at achieving sustainable economic and social development. In addition, his research priorities include national and international energy supply, with a particular focus on the social sustainability of the energy transition, as well as citizen participation in political decision-making processes and in shaping their living environment. In this context, he also investigates the role of technological innovations – notably Industry 4.0 and the digitalisation of everyday life.
