Klaus Busch came to Osnabrück University in 1975 and taught there until his retirement.
In 1978 he was awarded the Venia Legendi for political science with a focus on political economy. In 1986, he was awarded the title of associate professor; in 1996, the European Commission appointed him Jean Monnet Professor, an honor that reflected his life's work in a special way.
Mr. Busch established the interdisciplinary European Studies course in the schools of Social Sciences and shaped it for decades. As Vice President from 1999 to 2024, he also drove forward the restructuring of teacher training in particular and was committed to the introduction of new degree programs with international degrees.
The University, the School of Cultural Studies and Social Sciences and the Institute of Social Sciences owe him a lasting debt of gratitude. In Klaus Busch, Osnabrück University has lost a formative voice. Our deepest sympathy goes to his wife and his family.
