Block seminar at the Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University

Teaching, research and partnership in times of war

Together with Ukrainian students, Prof. Ulrich Schneckener explored the question of Ukraine's EU prospects under the title "Linking Security and Enlargement in times of War: The EU and Ukraine".

From 30.9. to 02.10.2025, Prof. Dr. Ulrich Schneckener taught a block seminar entitled "Linking Security and Enlargement in times of War: The EU and Ukraine" at the Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University in Bukovina, Ukraine. Over 20 BA and MA students from disciplines such as politics, law and economics took up the offer. The Institute of Social Sciences has maintained an Erasmus+ cooperation with the partner faculty there since 2020, which has so far enabled 13 Ukrainian students to spend a semester abroad in Osnabrück since the beginning of the Russian war of aggression. During his stay, Prof. Schneckener also took part in the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the university in Chernivtsi/Czernowitz together with the Vice President of Osnabrück University, Prof. Dr. Andrea Lenschow, to express our university's solidarity with its Ukrainian partners, especially in times of war.
