By the tail or in the tunnel? Comprehensive study on the welfare-friendly handling of mice

In a recent study, scientists from the Division of Behavioural Biology examined an everyday practice in working with mice: the “handling” of the animals, i.e., moving them around.

Excursion to the oldest zoo in the world: What does species-appropriate animal husbandry look like, and how can it be ensured?

Under the slogan “Modern Animal Husbandry Concepts,” the Division of Behavioural Biology  (led by Prof. Dr. Chadi Touma) went on a three-day field trip to the Schönbrunn Zoo and a research institute at the University of Vienna in September.

From the lecture hall to the savannah: Master's students on an excursion in South Africa

In the summer semester of 2023, twelve master's students studying biology at Osnabrück University traveled to South Africa as part of the behavioural biology field trip module.

Our division in the video

As part of the Master's Symposium 2021, the students of the Master's degree program "Biology - From Molecules to Organisms" had the task of presenting the schools in short video clips. Celina Dohmen, Philipp Harpering, Marie Sanio, Anna-Maria Schwöppe and Tabea Trebesch created two videos about the Division of Behavioural Biology. Their contribution won the vote for the best video and received the majority of votes from students and teaching staff at the school.
