AG Stochastics
Stochastics working group
The Stochastics group focuses on the following topics:
- Combinatorics of random polytopes and random mosaics
- mobile networks and random graphs
- limit theorems for Poisson's point processes
- large and moderate deviations
- Characterization of finite additive mass (evaluations)
The research group is responsible for the projects
"Random Lattice Polytopes" in the DFG-SPP 2458 Combinatorial Synergies, and
"Algebraic and Metric Properties of Random Geometric Graphs and Complexes" (PDF, 1.21 MB) and
Fine Asymptotics in Models of Statistical Mechanics in the DFG-SPP 2265 Random Geometric Systems

Final theses
We recommend attending lectures and seminars in the fields of stochastics and geometry as preparation for final theses. A study project close to the planned topic is also a helpful introduction to the final thesis. Attendance at the advanced seminar of our working group is desired, where a presentation on the topic of the thesis is expected.
We supervise bachelor theses in the following areas:
- Geometric properties of Poissonian point processes
- Stochastic geometry: random mosaics and polytopes
- Stochastic optimization
- Actuarial mathematics
- Convex and integral geometry
- Random graphs
- ...
We supervise master theses in the following subject areas:
- Stochastic geometry: random mosaics and polytopes
- Stochastic analysis for Poissonian point processes
- Geometric limit theorems
- Stochastic processes: Brownian motion, Markov processes, point processes
- Random fractals
- Convex and integral geometry
- ad-hoc networks
- Random graphs
- Mobile ad-hoc networks
- ...
