Research Center for Digital Transformation
The digitalization of processes, communication, information flows and data in general is a strong driver of social change in our time and affects almost all areas of life. In this context, companies and public institutions are therefore faced with the challenging task of exploiting opportunities on the one hand and overcoming barriers to change on the other. In order to successfully implement the digital transformation responsibly, an open-minded and resilient management culture is required that enables the right measures to be taken in the right places.
Our research group deals with digital transformation from a socio-technical perspective - we investigate drivers, barriers, success factors and effects of digital transformation in industrial companies and public institutions. The aim of our research is to develop practicable management solutions and methods to accompany the digital transformation process.

A variety of different barriers can prevent or slow down the digital transformation in companies. Barriers must therefore be identified on a company-specific basis in order to develop targeted solutions to overcome them. With the help of a questionnaire based on scientific findings, we can identify problem areas and make a valuable contribution to mastering your digital transformation.
Companies that want to drive forward their digital transformation generally do not start from scratch. Digital maturity levels help to provide an overview of the current state of digitalization in the company. As part of our research, we develop a holistic maturity model that enables the classification of a company's digital maturity and serves as a starting point for digital transformation.
We support companies in mapping the digital skills landscape of their employees, analyzing existing training opportunities and developing recommendations for the development of digital skills. With our expertise, you can prepare your employees for the challenges of digital transformation and make your organization fit for the future. In addition, our teaching is designed to equip students with the necessary skills as future shapers of digital transformation in your company.
Digital technologies have far-reaching effects on the business environment of established companies. With the help of suitable methods, we recognize and evaluate the landscape of digital technologies and derive individual transformation potential or disruption risks in the corporate context. We identify suitable success factors and make useful recommendations for the implementation of digital technologies.
