Cross the border close the gap. New topics for a historically orientierted understanding of the present
In recent years, a debate on curricula has developed within the community of history didactics, pointing out the various shortcomings of the existing curricula for history in the federal states. Among other things, the curricula are criticized for being too rigidly focused on national history and eurocentric content, for omitting recent contemporary history since the 1990s, as well as for lacking global, transcultural, ecological, technical, postcolonial, and queer perspectives.
In this research project, the first step will be to quantitatively analyze the content of all current curricula of the federal states for secondary levels I and II in terms of the objectives and content specifications they contain. This should provide an empirically valid overview of the status of the current curricula. Furthermore, the proposals for curriculum revision found in the literature will be systematized and supplemented with additional proposals.
