On research trip in Moldova

In March/April 2025, the B2 project team travelled to Moldova, where they held interviews with government representatives, as well as those from the EU, political foundations, academia, and civil society.

The B2 project examines the production of mobility options in the course of migration and border management between the EU and two Eastern European states (Ukraine and Moldova):

  • How and in what form are regulatory infrastructures negotiated, established and operationally implemented in the context of the Eastern Partnership on migration and border management?
  • What role do these infrastructures play in the production of migration-related categorizations and attributions as well as for the associated mobility options?
  • To what extent are these processes shaped by regional conflict dynamics?

In Chișinău, the project team is conducting a series of exciting discussions on topics such as:

  • Ukrainian refugees in Moldova
  • The role of EU organizations in the field of migration
  • Border protection on the ground
  • Developments in EU integration
