"Limits to cohesion? Public participation procedures for cross-border infrastructures in the context of climate and energy policy transformation processes" by Prof. Dr. Eva Ruffing and Dr. Viktoria Brendler

In August 2025, Prof. Dr. Eva Ruffing and Dr. Viktoria Brendler launched their new research project "Boundaries of cohesion? Public participation procedures for cross-border infrastructures in the context of climate and energy policy transformation processes".

The project focuses on social conflicts in the expansion of the European electricity grid and cooperation between states. The project thus focuses on central challenges of the energy and climate transition in Europe.

The project, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR), is part of the second funding phase of the Research Institute for Social Cohesion (FGZ).
