The School of Cultural Studies and Social Sciences welcomes international students in various contexts. Students have the following options to apply to Osnabrück University:

  Regular degree-seeking students
International students can apply for a full Bachelor's or Master's degree at Osnabrück University. Please note that there are   special application requirements and deadlines for international students.

  Erasmus and exchange students from partner universities
The School of Cultural Studies and Social Sciences maintains a large number of international partnerships around the world and in Europe as part of the Erasmus program. Bachelor's and Master's students from our partner universities can study at Osnabrück University for one or two semesters as part of our regular degree programs and earn ECTS credits (no degrees are awarded to exchange students).

  Master's degree course in Conflict Studies and Peacebuilding
The Master's degree course in Conflict Studies and Peacebuilding is a four-semester course that focuses on linking research and practice. It aims to provide students with a broad understanding of peace and conflict research and at the same time familiarize them with the practical fields of peacebuilding and conflict management. The program is taught entirely in English. International students are invited to   apply.

  International short-term programs, summer schools
Every year in July, Osnabrück University invites students from all over the world to its International Summer Schools. With a mix of established programs and innovative courses, they offer a unique opportunity to experience student life at a renowned German university. As a participant, you can experience challenging academic courses, a variety of cultural activities, introductory German courses and an exciting buddy program.

  Information for refugees
Language support, casual study, leisure activities: Students and teaching staff at Osnabrück University have developed a range of offers and initiatives to provide practical help and support to refugee students in and around Osnabrück and to give them a warm welcome.

Please note that the application procedure depends on the different groups of applicants:

With a German Abitur

Applicants who have obtained their school-leaving certificate at a German school in Germany or abroad must fulfill the same admission requirements as German students. They are considered international students with German qualifications ("Bildungsinländer").

With foreign certificates

International students with foreign certificates who apply to study in Osnabrück must meet certain requirements in terms of their subject and language skills. Their educational background and country of origin also have an influence on the admission procedure. Please contact the   Admissions Office for further information.

The Institute of Social Sciences maintains a large number of cooperation programs in Europe and welcomes exchange students from partner universities.

International exchange students and Erasmus students can find important information such as application, academic calendar, language requirements, course offerings and exam registration on the  website of the School of Cultural Studies and Social Sciences.

Incoming students are supported by the Office for Study Abroad & International Cooperation at the school.

We are happy to host students from our partner universities for one or two semesters as part of our cooperation agreements. To do this, students must first be nominated by their home university.
